THE NURTURING EARTH

Through stillness, the earth embraces all living things.

The primal power of Yin responding to the primal power of Yang.

Good fortune to those who recognize when to take action and when to wait

By holding fast to what is right 

I gain the power of endurance.

Persevering, I remain firm in my commitments.

Until the time is right, I stand still,

waiting for the opportunity 

to move forward from a stronger position.

A PEACEFUL MAJORITY

The community assembles in a place where resources are readily available.

Through unity and generosity, a just cause provides the will to succeed.

Good fortune to those who dwell within the shelter of the peaceful majority

Without discipline I cannot lead nor can I follow.

I am one of many who accumulate resources.

Seeking order, I am cautious in my relationships.

In times of danger, I remain loyal to my companions.

I cannot stand alone.

BALANCE 

The influence of the power of the creative approaches.

The balance of growth and decline work together toward a common goal.

I see through the illusion of prosperity,

to maintain my commitment to the middle way.

In times of decline, I am reminded that balance is the harmony within.

When I am at peace, good fortune will not desert me.

MODESTY

Success is achieved by the balance of equality.

Dynamic and magnetic attract, great strength is balanced by humility.

When my heart is full I have resources to share.

Effortlessly I exert a lasting influence on others.

Through modesty, I earn the support needed to accomplish my goals.

Through discipline, I create structure within myself, 

as I approach those I seek to influence.

AWAKENING

Earth, on which all life depends, represents the many.

The collection and storage of water provides sustenance to all living things

That which has withdrawn into darkness 

ascends toward the light of new beginnings.

It is the changing of the seasons.

The prospect of abundance returns.

The approach of spring awakens.

Be sure-footed, power comes from within.

This is the time to do what must be done.

RECOVERY

Winter solstice, the people return to their homes to rest.

At the turning point, the depth of darkness relents to the promise of spring.

Regardless of circumstances, there is constant change.

Darkness and danger are inevitable, 

move only when the time is right.

This is a time to know your relationship 

with the forces of the universe.

The light returns from rest with an awareness of the Divine.

Until then be goodhearted, remain calm, and rest.

Awakening

As the sun sinks beneath the horizon there is awareness of danger.

In the darkness of night, the light of the sun remains hidden.

In adversity, I am aware of the danger.

When confronted by those 

who could wound me, I am cautious.

As I contemplate my situation, 

I maintain a clear focus 

on the power of my intention.

WELCOME

A great effort is required to advance from the roots to achieve the desired outcome.

Like the gradual growth of the tree, the achievement is gained through steady progress.

Carefully planning the goals I wish to achieve,

I approach only those with interests in similar projects.

When I am in a position to support others, 

I choose those who demonstrate a willingness, 

to persevere through calm steady progress.
