The Time Before Time

Stories from the I CHING

64 Stories from the legends of the I CHING

The Book of Changes

How the forces of nature influence the story you tell yourself

Throughout thousands of years of translations the I Ching holds true to one principle.

The forces of nature guide your way to adapt to the constant change of everyday life.

In the time before time, seeking good fortune, the people inquired for answers from the Divine.

The stories were passed down through generations of wandering tribes who learned to anticipate their fate by watching the sky.

As the seasons changed they watched the clouds and prepared for rain.

They watched the birds flying north or south which indicated the changing seasons.

By watching the moon and sun they developed the calendar to predict the passage of time.

Stories were told around the campfires as they prepared for rest. Those stories became our inheritance of traditional wisdom through the centuries.

In the 11th century BC, King Wen of the Zhou Dynasty organized the stories into the 64 hexagrams in I CHING while he was imprisoned by the tyrant of Shang Dynasty whose reign ended in disgrace as the Zhou Dynasty invaded. The tyrant's demise ended as the Zhou leaders released the slaves and homogenized them into the agricultural era of the 11th century BC.

Today the cast of characters are the same.

We learn from those who are wise, those with rank, those with education, and the villains.

Good fortune is inspired by good judgment and the fulfillment of intention.

For those who are familiar with the I CHING you may find this interpretation very different.

The focus is on the forces of nature, the path of good fortune dwells within the stories.

There are no changing lines, the threads of change are woven into the ways of nature.

The instructions for inquiry using the coin toss methods are at the back of the book.

For beginners, concentrate on your question and use your intuition.

Relax and open to a page in the book, the answer is waiting for you there.

How to ask to your question.
